Bill Monroe is commonly referred to as
the “Father of Blue Grass Music,” a repu-
tation well earned by the mild-mannered
Kentuckian who has become a legend in
his field.
Bom in Rosine, Kentucky, in the heart
of the blue-grass country, Bill Monroe
developed his own style of country music,
built around the mandolin, guitar and
fiddle. With his group, appropriately called
the “Bluegrass Boys,” the singer-composer
has spread the gospel of bluegrass music
on WSM’s “Grand Ole Opry,” through
his world-wide personal appearances, and
through his endless string of fine Decca
album and single recordings.
Through the years, Bill Monroe and the
Bluegrass Boys have become virtually
an institution by maintaining the original
bluegrass style he pioneered in the thirties.
Bill’s honesty and sincerity, evident in
his compositions and performances, have
truly brought this fine artist to the zenith
of his career as proved by his consistent
sales throughout the years in the country
market.
