As a featured member of the famed
Ernest Tubb Texas Troubadors, Jack
Greene’s name and talent has become
well established among the vast audiences
of country music fans. Joining the Tubb
group in June of 1962, this personable
young man has now soared to stardom
on the wings of his smash Decca record-
ing of “There Goes My Everything.’’ The
record, one of the biggest selling country
singles of all-time, quickly established
itself in the #1 spot on all the trade
paper charts and assured this new country
star an honored place among the top
names in the field of country music. An
album of the same title was released,
and soon appeared among the leaders on
all the best selling lists.
The story of Jack Greene is one of
overnight stardom achieved through hard
and diligent work in his chosen career.
The years of 1944 through 1958 found
Jack singing and performing on radio
and television as a featured member of
some of the top country music groups
throughout the country.
In 1951 Jack became a member of the
U.S. Army, and for the next two years
served with that branches combat en-
gineers. Returning to civilian life in 1953,
Jack next became a member of The Peach-
tree Cowboys on WSB-TV, Atlanta, and in
1958 he formed his own group, The Chero-
kee’s.
In June of 1962, Jack Greene became a
member of the Ernest Tubb outfit, and the
rest, as they say, is country music history.
This young man from Maryville, Ten-
nessee, is surely one of the most exciting
country music talents in show business
today.
