    Description

    These two publications were re
lated to the Greens Creek Mine in Alaska.  The file box I purchased at an estate sale had a mixture of geological survey books and maps used by Pan Sound Joint Venture in Alaska. They used this material to conduct metal exploration in SE Alaska between 1974 and 1976. These geological studies found high base metal anomalies on Admiralty Island. Claims were staked and today the Greens Creek Mine exists on the island. Hecla Mining Company claims the mine is the largest and lowest-cost primary silver mine in the world.
The details of the two books are:
Alaska Mining Law Manual - by Charles F Herbert published by Mineral Industry Research Laboratory, University of Alaska.  It was published in 1970.  Size is apx 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  It had a paper clip on cover for some period and that left an imprint.  Staple binding is tight & not rusted.
Geological Literature on the Gulf & Southeastern Coastal Regions of Alaska - by JC Maher & WM Trollman published by State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with US Geological Survey. It was published in March of 1971. Size is apx 11" 8 1/2". It is stamped with red ink - "Pan Sound" and has PS penned in the upper right corner of cover and some other minor stains and marks The book is in good shape but was used with bend at staple binding.
Take these home today and use them in your mining research of Alaska. Maybe go mining even with their help.  Plus you can help me save ephemera from the trash bin.
