Description
The “Ike” jacket, named after General Eisenhower, was a dress uniform item copying the waist-cut aesthetics of the British Battledress. These were issued throughout WW2 and immediately afterwards during the Korea period.
It is patched to the 2
nd
Armor Division “Hell on Wheels”, which Fury was a part of.
The Second Armor was involved in intense fighting in North Africa, Normandy (landed at Omaha Beach), the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge, and finally the Rhineland push into Germany in the end.
The jacket is in excellent, near mint condition with no rips, tears, or holes.
It is missing its lowermost button, which is invisible from the outside; it should be easy to find a replacement for this.
It might not have even been worn, although a service number was hand-written on the tag by the back. The 2AD patch retains its vibrant colors and the tags are all clearly readable.
Measurements (lying flat):
Shoulder to Shoulder:
18 inches
Chest:
21 inches (42 inch circumference)
Waist:
18 inches (36 inch circumference)
Overall Length
(top of collar to bottom on back): 22.5 inches
This Ike jacket is dated to 1949, but from a distance looks “close enough” to a WW2 example.
It would be perfect as a stand-in for a real WW2 example, or to wear for reenactment, dances, and other theatrical purposes.
