    Description

This rare letter was recently picked up at an estate sale at Lake Tahoe.  It was found when cleaning out an old cabin on the west shore.  The letter is to W. F. Brinham in El Portal California from Two Brothers Consolidated Mines in San Francisco California in the summer of 1915.  The letter was sent with a check for labor at the Mack Mine.  He also informs Mr. Brinham that his parties will be leaving Saturday with a letter to show property owners.  There is a quote “Show them the property to the best advantage and don’t be afraid to hand them a little “Bull”.  It goes on to say try to hold out for 20% royalty and on the back he is talking to Mr. Brinham about future jobs and pay @ a day.  The letter is signed by Mark Jacobs.  Mr. W. F. Brinham was a local Real Estate man according to a 1904 Mariposa Gazette article.  The letter is pristine with no rips or tears and is on Two Brothers letterhead.  The envelope was opened on one end and was mailed out on June 3, 1915 from San Francisco.  The envelope has a scarce “Perf 10” Panama Canal 2¢ stamp with a Panama Exposition stamp over it (see photos).  It is postmarked from San Francisco on June 3rd 1915 at 7:30PM.  The letter and envelope are being sold in “As Found” condition.  Shipping includes insurance.   Please email with questions.  Good Luck!!
