ESTATE FROM PRIVATE COLLECTION.
This is a very rare sewing collectible for a Victorian chatelaine... an antique sterling acorn shaped thimble holder with an emery for sharpening needles on the bottom. The piece is in beautiful heavy sterling silver repousse with hand worked scroll work all over. The lid hinges open to reveal the fitted inside where a thimble could be stored. The lid hinges and snaps shut perfectly. The inside lip is marked "Sterling". The piece measures about 1 1/2" long by 1" across the top. It is heavy for the size, weighing 15.1 grams. The piece is in excellent condition with no dents or dings. There is some wear to bottom normal from use and age
