    Description

Stunning Antique Art Nouveau Ernst Gideon Bek Germany 800 Silver Mesh Coin Purse
This stunning coin purse was hand made around the 1910-20s by famous German silversmith Ernst Gideon Bek. It features an intricate 800 silver mesh fabric attached to an elegantly designed and masterfully crafted repousse frame with putti and flowers. Attached to the purse frame is the original loop that would have attached to the chain inside a larger hand bag or evening purse. I offer the corresponding hand bad / evening purse as a separate item (search for item "

Elegant ladies would use this elegant little piece for a night out at the ball or other society event. One always needed some change for a cab!
Very good antique condition with minor wear and patina according to age. All moving parts are fully functional. Not monogrammed.
This adorable little piece measures 3 3/4" long x 2 1/2" wide and weighs
approximately 45 grams. All parts, including the mesh, are solid silver. The piece is stamped "800" for a common European silver standard of 80% silver and carries Bek's makers mark, a butterfly.
A very cute, ornate and stylish antique piece!
