Over The Cup 800 Tea Strainer
This great over the cup 800 tea strainer was made by Peruzzi Italy. Fratelli Peruzzi is a silver-shop in operation since 1860 in one of the oldest workshops in the city opened by Giuseppe Peruzzi and left to Gianna and sister-in-law Laura, who is the president of the Associazione Ponte Vecchio. Secrets have passed here through generations in the highest form of artisan craftsmanship - this is now almost an dying art that must be preserved. There are countless precious trinkets and home decor to marvel over - candlesticks, bell brooches inlaid in silver or gold, animals, pendants, and numerous other wonderful 800 pieces and among them, this tea strainer.
In checking for other tea strainers, I could not find any selection which indicates that this particular item must be a rare one!
Measuring 5 1/4" long by 3 1/4" wide, it is marked "Peruzzi Silver Florence"and weighs 73 grams. The decoration is done in garlands,  which I think are roses. There is a cartouche with no monogram. The interior is gold wash.
There are no dents or dings and I would consider the condition as very fine. It could use a good polishing but I find no problems with this lovely collectiible piece.
