This helmet is scarce and very hard to come by. This helmet is "used" and
it will be described to the best of my ability - PLEASE VIEW ALL PICTURES
AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.
*****************************************************************************
What you see is what you will be receiving - there are no other parts
to it.

This helmet is missing the padding and all electronics. This helmet also has
scratches and some paint is peeling. The line that you see on pic# 6 where the
label is at, IS NOT a crack - this helmet was made in sections, and as you can
see in the pictures it still displays beautifully as it is.
What i have here for you is a historic militaria aviation collectible that is seldom
seen as most were destroyed by the government due to safety concerns(based
on my research).
The label on the back you can barely read it with the naked eye, but with a magnifying
glass i can read: "SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENTS and BILL JACK(in red letters)".
Based on my extensive research this helmet is an EARLY 1950's USAF MA-1 High
Altitude Flight Helmet.
IMPORTANT: Pictures #11 & 12 i took them from the internet. Picture # 11 shows the Early
MA-1(same as this one) with Low Pressure Oxygen System, and Picture
# 12 shows a Later USAF MA-1 with high pressure oxygen system with
smaller diameter
hose.........
this early MA-1 with Low Pressure Oxygen
System, you will not
find it anywhere
in the world for sale.,YES, it's that RARE!
**********************************************************************************************************
The USAF MA-1 high altitude helmet made by Bill Jack Instrument Company in the mid-1950's
was designed to give better visibility than the K-1 or MA-2 but suffered from high weight and
oxygen leaks.
The MA-1 visor was mechanically sealed by way of a top mounted tension bar mechanism and
was electrically heated with vertically running tiny wires molded within. The early MA-1 used
low pressure oxygen system later replaced by a high pressure oxygen system with a smaller
diameter reinforced hose(see pic #12).
